Join us on Saturday, September 26th, from 6-8pm, to celebrate the art of the artists who make up Second Sunday Sessions!
One of the regular events hosted at Press Coffee is Second Sunday Sessions in the basement of Press from 5-7pm. These are held on, you guessed it, the second Sunday of the month! This month we are highlighting the craft of these local artists by showcasing their work from these sessions. Some are sketched from live models or still-life arrangements. Other sketches are products of exploration through charcoal and paint, or blind countour drawings and color theory.

Second Sunday Sessions was founded in 2024 by a couple of lonely IC transplants looking to explore and develop their artistic abilities among other artists in the community. It began as a two-hour session for life drawing (of clothed, volunteer models) but quickly expanded to still-life studies, lessons/practices on drawing techniques, exploration of materials and mediums, and much more.

Eylul Doganay is a translator and artist from Turkey, now living in Iowa City. She started drawing with markers and continues to do so, also tinkers with print mediums, digital tools, and projectors. She is interested in unlearning habits, automatic writing, re-imagined terrains, translation, belonging, and harmony. She is enchanted/influenced by courageous lines in graphic realms like etching and tattooing.
