What is Press Play: Community Music Day?
It's a one-day event filled with camaraderie, music, education, and fun! Participants will start their day running through the music in the large group, break off into smaller sectionals to workshop with their sections, and then come back together for a "dress rehearsal" of sorts before we open the doors for a free public concert! Schedule will vary based on the ensemble(s) you plan to participate in, but that is the basic idea.
Who can participate?
There are two ways you can participate: as a musician or as a volunteer!
- Musicians are able to participate in jazz, orchestra, or choir, or a mixture of those. Jazz is also open to non-traditional instruments, such as violin or bassoon. Musicians must be able to read music and provide their own instrument, music (printed or virtual, this will be provided ahead of time), and music stand.
- Volunteers will help with things like set up/break down, check in, directions, and seating for the public concert.
Is there a cost to participate?
- Yes. The registration fee is $25 per musician for the day. This includes a commemorative t-shirt and lunch. If the cost would prevent you from playing with us, please reach out! We want you to play and we have a limited number of scholarship spots available.
- The public concert is free to attend with donations gladly accepted!
