Press & Print: Block Printing Card Making

In this guided 2-hour workshop, you'll learn the art of block printing from scratch — from sketching and carving your very own block to inking it up and hand-printing two beautiful greeting cards you can actually send.

The workshop unfolds in four satisfying stages. You'll start by browsing reference designs and sketching out your block pattern — florals, geometric shapes, letters, or something entirely your own. Your instructor will help you plan a design that translates beautifully into print. Then comes the carving: using handheld tools, you'll carefully cut away your design to create a raised printing surface.

Once your block is carved, it's time to ink up and print. Roll on the color, press the block, and watch your design come to life on paper. You'll print two greeting cards, experimenting with color and placement along the way. No two prints are ever exactly the same — that's the magic of block printing. You'll wrap up by adding finishing touches to your cards, cleaning up, and taking a moment to admire what everyone has made.

This workshop is suitable for all ages — a wonderful outing for the whole family. Whether you're a complete beginner, a parent looking for a creative afternoon with your kids, or simply someone who has always been curious about printmaking, you'll feel right at home here.
