Presidents' Day / Lunar New Year Chess Tournament

for a fun and exciting chess tournament celebrating Presidents' Day and the Lunar New Year! Whether you're a chess newbie or a pro, this event is the perfect chance to challenge yourself, meet fellow chess lovers, and enjoy some friendly competition. New or first time players must obtain a USCF membership by going to https://new.uschess.org/join-us-chess.

This Scholastic Tournament, is hosted by Fun Chess Club, and sponsored by Southeast Chess (501(c)(3) organization) of Parent Teacher Students Organization, Atlanta Chinese Christian Church.

Scholastic event, one section with prizes by grade classes: K-1, K-3, K-5, 6-8, 9-12. 1st-3rd trophies each class. 5SS, G/25 d5 (dual rated). EF: $30 adv., $40 late, $50 at site. USCF memb. req. Bring sets/clocks.

Time & Schedule: Schedule

l Onsite Registration: 9:00–9:30 AM (late arrivals may get a Round 1 bye)

l Round 1: 10:00 AM

l Round 2: ~11:15 AM

l Round 3: ~12:30 PM

l Lunch Break: After Round 3 (~1:30 PM) – bring lunch/snacks or eat nearby

l Round 4: ~2:30 PM

l Round 5: ~3:45 PM

l Awards: After last round (~5:00 PM)

Event wraps up early evening. Prizes Trophies for top 3 in each grade class. All play 5 games.

Presidents' Day / Lunar New Year Holiday Scholastic Chess Tournament

Motto: "Iron Sharpens Iron" (Proverbs 27:17)Join us for an exciting day of chess for students in grades K-12, from beginners to experienced players. Challenge yourself, make friends, and improve in a fun, supportive environment. No tournament experience required. Event Details

l Date: Monday, February 16, 2026 (Presidents' Day – no school for most students)

l Location: Fun Chess Club (3784 Satellite Blvd, STE 100, Duluth, GA 30096).

Tournament Format Open to K-12 students only. All compete in one section, with prizes by grade class:

l K-1 ; K-3; K-5; 6-8; 9-12

Swiss system, 5 rounds. Time control: G/25 d5 (25 minutes per player + 5-second delay). Dual-rated by USCF (regular and quick ratings). New players start unrated.
