Preserving the Movies: A Life in Props, Costumes & Collecting
About this Event
Join us for a behind-the-scenes look at the world of movie and television props with memorabilia specialist Mark Short.
Mark will share stories from decades of collecting, buying, selling, and preserving screen-used costumes, props, and artwork. From his early collecting days in England to auction rooms, television appearances, and international finds, he’ll explore how ordinary production objects can become valuable pieces of cultural history.
Along the way, Mark will discuss how the hobby has changed, why provenance and preservation matter, and what it means to care for artifacts connected to the films and shows people love.
Guests will also have the chance to see a selection of original props and costumes from Mark’s personal collection.
Perfect for film fans, collectors, and anyone curious about how pop culture survives after the cameras stop rolling.
