Led by quilt artist Torreah “Cookie” Washington, this workshop is perfect for beginner to advanced sewists ready to create a stunning quilted circle vest.Rooted in the rich traditions of African American quilting—known for its improvisational beauty and powerful storytelling—this session is more than just sewing. It’s a celebration of culture, creativity, and the community spirit of a modern-day quilt circle.
As part of the experience, enjoy a highlight tour of our exhibition “In Slavery’s Wake” with exhibit team members Exhibition Developer, Johanna Obenda and Archaeologist, Gabrielle Chantal Miller, who will reflect on the enduring power of textile art as a form of resistance and joy.
