Join the North Park Historical Society for an in-person presentation by retired architect Steve Fobes diving into the rich history of the Burlingame Historic District. Discover the fascinating origins and distinct architecture of this neighborhood of San Diego.
LOCATION: St. Mark's Meeting Room at Grace Lutheran Church at 3967 Park Blvd, San Diego, CA 92103.
Park on the street or in the free parking lot behind the church, enter through the alley off of Lincoln Avenue. Enter through the patio gate, and the St. Mark’s Meeting Room is on the left side of the patio.

Burlingame Historic District, “The Tract of Character,” located in the Greater North Park Community, is a quaint neighborhood with a collection of diverse homes built using the “Systems Firm” method, an experimental approach to real estate development utilizing a “team of specialists” to develop and market exclusive real estate property, during the period 1912 through 1952. Burlingame is historically significant based on its unique early 20th century development, architecture, site planning and special scale and character derived from the curvilinear street pattern that follows the area’s natural contours, in contrast with the surrounding area's grid development pattern and street layout. The neighborhood’s sidewalks remain rose-colored providing a unique character defining feature to the district. There is an eclectic mix of mostly pre World War I through early post-World War II suburban residential architecture, reflected in over 170 distinctive and interesting homes of various architectural styles which include: Mission Revival, Spanish Colonial Revival, Craftsman, Modern and several other styles.
