Presence in the Digital Age: Tanztheater Performance-Making Workshop
About this Event
We scroll, post, perform ourselves online, and increasingly communicate with AI. What might we have lost along the way?
This practical performance-making workshop takes social media, AI and our everyday digital behaviours as creative material.
Using Tanztheater, drama and devising, we will turn familiar digital experiences — scrolling, repetition, online personas, disconnection and human interaction — into movement, text and performance.
Rather than discussing the digital world from a distance, we will explore it through the body and action: How does an online behaviour become a physical action? How can a personal experience become a scene?
Participants will work through physical and theatrical tasks, improvisation and collaborative devising to generate original performance material.
This workshop is for actors, dancers, performers and theatre-makers curious about Tanztheater, physical theatre and devising new work.
No previous dance experience is required. Just curiosity and a willingness to move, play and create with others!
*This workshop is part of the research and development of a new collaborative work by Adrian Look and Ami Nagano. If you’d like to support its development, any donation would be greatly appreciated and will go directly towards paying the performers involved in the project.
