A Prenatal Lactation & Infant Feeding Workshop
About this Event

Join Birth Mark & Mila Mendez (Belly to Belly — Infant Feeding) for an interactive prenatal workshop on preparing to feed your newborn! In this welcoming and judgement free space, we will go through the mechanics of lactation and latch; newborn feeding norms; introducing pumping and bottles; signs to seek support and where to find it.

Whether you're already planning to feed by breast/chest or bottle, or haven't decided yet, this workshop will help you clarify your personal goals, set expectations, and equip you with evidence-informed strategies, so that you can begin your infant feeding journey with more confidence. Partners and/or support people are welcome!

Bio:

Mila (they/them) is an educator whose experiences as a new parent inspired them to focus on infant feeding, in order to support other families in building their confidence with feeding their babies! Now, as a lactation intern with Dr. Paola Vallarino (Toronto, ON), Mila has completed over 500 clinical hours working directly with families to become an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).

In their practice, Belly to Belly Infant Feeding, Mila brings a non-judgmental, compassionate, and grounded approach to infant feeding, rooted in practical evidence-informed care and an anti-oppressive feminist ethic. Mila believes that the ways we care for our ourselves and our babies through their first foods can be a site of transformation and birth justice that resonates across the generations in our communities.
This event is open to all of our community members, prioritizing underserved and marginalized communities (including those who are 2SLGBTQ+, racialized, Indigenious, disabled, neurodiverse, low-income, and those who are not served by traditional healthcare systems).
Our workshops are offered free of cost, donations are always welcome to those who are able. https://birthmarksupport.com/donate
