What will World War III look like -- and how should the United States be preparing for it?
Join us for a presentation from Dr. John Nagl, a Professor of Warfighting Studies in the Department of Military Strategy, Planning, and Operations at the Army War College, retired Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army, and author of Learning to Eat Soup with a Knife: Counterinsurgency Lessons from Malaya and Vietnam. This conversation will be moderated by Dr. Hilary Matfess, director of the Security graduate degree program at Korbel.

About Dr. John Nagl:
Dr. John Nagl is Professor of Warfighting Studies in the Department of Military Strategy, Planning, and Operations at the Army War College. A West Point graduate and retired Armor officer, he served in tank units in combat in Operation Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom. Dr. Nagl attended Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar, earning his M.Phil. and Doctoral degrees in International Relations. His doctoral dissertation was published as "Learning to Eat Soup with a Knife: Counterinsurgency Lessons from Malaya and Vietnam" by the University of Chicago. He earned the George C. Marshall Award and an MMAS at the Army Command and General Staff College. Upon retirement from the Army, Dr. Nagl served as a Senior Fellow and later as the President of the Center for a New American Security and as a member of the Defense Policy Board and the Reserve Forces Policy Board. He taught at West Point, Georgetown, and George Washington University, was the first Minerva Research Professor at the U.S. Naval Academy, writing the book "Knife Fights: A Memoir of Modern War", and served for eight years as the Ninth Head of.the Haverford School outside Philadelphia.
