About this Event
Preparing for avian influenza; Esperance biosecurity workshop
This event is your chance to practice safe use of PPE and key biosecurity principles for avian influenza! Join us at Lotteries House Conference Room (3 Forrest St, Esperance) for a practical session on how to put on and take off PPE, as well as set up a secure field site for sample collection. This session is specifically for those that are likely to work under the guidance of the lead agencies (DPIRD/DBCA) in response to any wildlife disease outbreak, and/or may handle wildlife in the wild. As a result, it is targeted to wildlife carers, rangers, and field ecologists (e.g., working with NGOs, trapping wildlife etc).
Please contact [email protected] if you are unsure of your eligibility to attend this session. Practical clothing is recommended, however we will not be working with hazardous materials, and all PPE will be provided.
Presented by Bethany Jackson, Senior Lecturer in Wildlife Health and Epidemiology, and Sarah Thorpe, RVN and graduating veterinarian, from Murdoch University.
