We will be hosting a history tour of Sixth Mount Zion Baptist Church on June 18th, 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Ample parking is available.
Join the Black Heritage Preservation Alliance for a pre-Juneteenth tour of the historic Sixth Mount Zion Baptist Church located within the Jackson Ward District of Richmond, Va.
With church historian Benjamin Ross, visitors will tour the historic sanctuary, learn about the church’s extraordinary history and view several artifacts from the church’s collection of 19th and 20th century memorabilia.
Established in 1867 by Rev. John Jasper, Sixth Mount Zion Baptist Church is listed on the national and state historic registers and is recognized as an Old Site and Historic District-RVA. Guests will sign the visitor’s register and take a group photo for church records following the tour.
