Pre-Concert Recital: Steve Barta Trio
Pianist Steve Barta is a recording artist and composer whose contribution to the world of music includes 17 recordings that reflect his many influences, particularly Brazilian, jazz and classical music. He has written several works for symphony orchestra that have been performed worldwide.
Barta’s latest symphonic release is his arrangement of Claude Bolling’s classic Suite for Flute & Jazz Piano. Now titled Symphonic Arrangement: Suite for Flute & Jazz Piano, the new recording features pianist Jeff Biegel along with renowned flutist Hubert Laws.
Barta is also a music educator with more than 35 years of experience teaching intermediate to advanced students, educators, and professional musicians. He teaches at Colorado College, where he focuses on jazz piano, arranging and composition. His latest single release is his original composition titled “Ascended,” with Barta on piano along with Laws and guitarist Lee Trees.
Grande Orquesta Navarre was originally scheduled to perform at this recital, but unfortunately had to postpone.
This free pre-concert recital takes place before the ticketed Festival Artists Concert later in the evening. Following the free recital, attendees are invited to the Packard courtyard for drinks and snacks while socializing and learning more about the Festival.
