Gabriel Meyer Halevy is an incredible musician-activist whose transformative work has the power to heal. PrayerFormance is an interactive concert that journeys from intimate prayer to ecstatic "danceable" joy, bridging hearts, peoples and cultures, songs, stories of cross-cultural connections, peacemaking and humor even beyond enemy lines. A cultural puzzle interconnecting through many languages: English, Spanish, Arabic, Hebrew, Urdu & Sanskrit.
Described as “a hypnotizing, contagious and poetic experience,” Gabriel’s music brings World beat Fusion, sacred, heart songs, poetry and prayers from around the world, drawing from ancient Hebrew, Prophetic and Universal Wisdom, with folk and original songs that blend and celebrate earth, life, the mystical, and the Human Spirit. Along with Gabriel on vocals, guitar and story-telling, the multi-talented musician Horacio Martinez will play guitar, charango, sikus, quena, kalimba, bombo and vocals.
In these tough times, when uncertainty, division, war, and violence are prevalent and highlighted in our world, come replenish with joy and “surprise reality to change” with "PrayerFormance," bridging hearts and cultures.
The Concert is also a benefit and to raise awareness for STANDING TOGETHER! A portion of funds raised this evening will go to Standing Together's ongoing grassroots work as Palestinians, Israelis and Jews together to end the war to save innocent lives in Gaza and release the hostages, and their long-term work building the movement for peace, justice and equality in Israel-Palestine. www.standing-together.org/en

ABOUT GABRIEL:

Born in Cordoba, Argentina. Son of human rights champion, the late Rabbi Marshall Meyer. Gabriel brings beauty, humor, vitality, and pathways of understanding and healing through the universal language of music, movement, and prayer. Gabriel speaks and sings in over 6 languages, including English, Spanish, Portuguese, Hebrew, Arabic, Sanskrit and Urdu. Trained as a spiritual leader and ambassador of peace, Gabriel was given an honorary title of "true representative of the Jewish people" by Rabbi Zalman Schachter Shalomi z'l, and was initiated into the "order of disorder" by Zen Roshi Bernie Glassman z'l. had the honor of a private audience with His Holiness the Dalai Lama, studied sacred wisdom with Shamans from the Americas, Sufi Sheiks from the Middle East & Africa, and acclaimed teachers Buddhist such as Jack Kornfield, Stan Groff, Joanna Macy and the late Thich Nhat Hanh. Gabriel is a lifelong Peace Activist, and at the onset of the 2nd Intifada in 2001, he co-founded and co-directed a Middle East Peace Organization, the Sulha Peace Project with Palestinian Elias Jabbour z”l and co-led the organization until 2009.
Gabriel has three CD collaborations out - Merkavah, SpiritIsreal & Hateva: Skin of God, and one solo album: The Human Project. He wrote 2 books of poetry and co-founded Metatron Ritual Theater Collective('94 - '01). He currently is writing an "autobiographical fiction". Gabriel brings groups of people from diverse backgrounds together to sing, play, pray, find resilience and hope.
