Leela Youth Dance Company (LYDC) is a pre-professional dance company dedicated to the study and performance of Kathak, classical dance of Northern India. Committed to artistic excellence and cultural pride, LYDC preserves this centuries-old art form and honors the lineage of legendary Kathak Master Pandit Chitresh Das. Under the guidance of Senior disciple and Leela Dance Collective Artistic Director Seibi Lee, LYDC Director Rukhmani Mehta and LYDC senior mentor Joanna Meinl, these young ladies are rigorously trained in technique and performance and inspired to embrace their roles as next generation artists, leaders, and cultural ambassadors.
We are proud to highlight graduating seniors Ananya Bhardwaj and Anaya Doshi. Anaya and Ananya have dedicated countless hours to refining the difficult craft of Kathak and understanding the history, philosophy and mathematics that permeate this vibrant traditional art form. This performance represents the culmination of many years of discipline, passion, and growth.
