Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.In Part I of Book 4 (ABA, Magick), Alesiter Crowley notes that the Sages and Magi of every age, from Lao Tzu to Mohammed, Siddhartha to To Mega Therion, have one thing universally in common among them, one thing which serves as the uttermost fundament of every legitimate spiritual path yet known to mankind: "It is the restraining of the mind to a single act, state, or thought."
Whether this is called prayer or meditation, whatever ancillary practices are used to support it—"virtue... solitude, absence of excitement, moderation in diet"—this single yet multifaceted element is the root of all attainment. It is the foundation upon which all else rests, and without it all other practices are little more than exotic esoterica.
"It is by freeing the mind from external influences, whether casual or emotional, that it obtains power to see somewhat of the truth of things. Let us, however, continue our practice. Let us determine to be masters of our minds. We shall then soon find what conditions are favourable."
Rev. Pralixus, Pr. Gn., will lead this ongoing experiential exploration of the methods of mysticism and meditation. More practical than didactic, the intent is to provide a forum for actual practice toward attaining mastery of body, speech, and mind, and thence to master the Universe.
