For this final talk of the "Catolicismo, Cultura y Comida" series organized by CWCIT and Tepeyac/Catholic Campus Ministry, we welcome Dr. Sergio González of Marquette University (Milwaukee, WI).

In this talk, Sergio M. González, PhD (assistant professor of history at Marquette University), explores the profound connections between faith, the ethic of hospitality, and social justice movements in Latino communities in the 20th-century Midwest. Drawing from his recently published book (: ) on the history of Latino settlement in Wisconsin, he asks how churches today can learn from the past to both "welcome the stranger" and create spaces where Latinos can feel like "strangers no longer."

Dr. Sergio González is assistant professor of history at Marquette University and a historian of 20th-century U.S. migration, labor, and religion. Along with his academic work, he's also engaged in several public humanities projects, including serving as a public historian developing Wisconsin's new public history museum with the Wisconsin Historical Society; co-writing and co-hosting , a social studies show for middle school students on Wisconsin PBS; and co-writing and co-hosting , a limited podcast series with Axis Mundi Media.
