About this Event
Join us for a dynamic, full-day 4-H Electric Program & Plant Systems Agriculture Training, designed to equip Extension professions and volunteers with hands-on skills, engaging curriculum tools, and inspiration to spark youth interest in STEM and agriculture. The morning features an immersive Electric Kit Training, where participants assemble the 2026 electric project kit while learning foundational electronic concepts, circuits, components, and soldering. Counties that complete the training become eligible to receive 20 free electric kits to implement in local 4-H programs. The session also includes an overview of the statewide 4-H Electric Program and Electric Congress, with opportunities to learn how to bring these programs to life for youth.
In the afternoon, participants dive into NC 4-H Plant Systems Agriculture: Grow For It, exploring the brand-new Health from the Ground Up curriculum. Through interactive activities, from uncovering nutrients in foods to modeling plant needs and investigating soil chemistry, attendees will experience hands-on lessons they can immediately adapt for youth programming. The day concludes with a fast-paced and creative Pollinator Garden Design Workshop, where educators learn how to help young people design vibrant, pollinator-friendly garden spaces and take home a starter kit to launch projects in their own counties.
This workshop blends science, creativity, and practical tools to support high-quality 4-H programming that connects youth to energy, agriculture, and environmental stewardship.
