About this Event
Join us at the 519 School of Hip Hop on May 8 for Fem Friday featuring poet and spoken word artist Vironika Wilde. At this all-ages poetry workshop, you will:
- Get experience with crafting poetic imagery and metaphors
- Learn the secret sauce inside every powerful poem
- Learn how to adapt poems for performance
- Get a chance to write and perform (if you choose)
With our workshop so close to Mother's Day, you are welcome to come with the intention of writing something for or about your mom. However, be ready for poetry to sway you in whatever direction you are meant to go.

About Your Facilitator
Vironika Wilde is a Ukrainian and Russian-indigenous poet, spoken word artist, activist, and workshop facilitator. As a stage poet, she's performed in many cities, including Toronto, Vancouver, Honolulu, Portland, Sydney, and Melbourne. She is a two-time performer in the Toronto Storytelling Festival, third place winner of Room Magazine's poetry contest, and recipient of the Ontario Arts Council Literary Grant for her upcoming poetry collection, Step-Mother Tongue. You're welcome to read her poetry collection, Love & Gaslight, and listen to her spoken word album, Too Much For You. When Vironika isn't writing, she loves getting lost, looking at the stars, singing to her kids, and eating pickles (sometimes, all at once).
