About this Event

Join Power Hull on Saturday February 21 st for a screening of Power Station.

The film will start at 3 pm, so please arrive in time for this.

There will be time after for discussion.

Power Station is a documentary film by Hilary Powell and Dan Edelstyn showing a scalable in-your-face prototype of community led power.

The film was described by Sheffield Doc Fest 2025 as –

Two artists in Walthamstow set out to take their street off the grid, kickstarting a solar-powered energy revolution.

Inspired by lockdown mutual aid initiatives, artist-activists Hilary Powell and Dan Edelstyn decided to turn their street into an energy-generating powerhouse – a prototype for a new way of living, with the hope of galvanising a wider push towards sustainable alternatives. Directed by the duo, POWER STATION charts their turbulent journey, from pitching the idea to their neighbours and sleeping on the roof of their home to raising finance and launching a bid for a Christmas number one single. By turns funny and heartwarming, Powell and Edelstyn’s film is a vibrant portrait of their local neighbourhood, and a charming testament to the power of art in changing minds about what could be possible.

This event is “pay what you can”. To cover our costs of putting on the film, we suggest a standard donation of £7 and a low income / student / elder donation of £5. However, we want as many interested people as possible to be able to join us, so free tickets are available.

The film is about 90 minutes long.

Some snacks and drinks will be available, but please feel free to bring your own.

(In September 2025, solar panels were installed on the Lonsdale Centre, so, weather permitting, this will be a solar-powered screening of Power Station!)
