Power in People: Celebrating Our High Street Community

Great things happen when people come together, and this final gathering of our Digitising the High Street Programme is all about celebrating exactly that.

Join us on Monday 26th January 2026 at Port Independent, Unit 4 Saint Thomas' Street North, Sunniside, Sunderland, SR1 1QD from 5:30pm to 8pm for an evening dedicated to the high street heroes, new trailblazers, and everyone who has played a part in strengthening our local community.

This special night will bring together:
High street champions who’ve been shining a light on our local area for over 20 years

New and emerging businesses bringing fresh energy, ideas, and big dreams

A live panel discussion exploring the highs, lows, lessons learned, and what comes next

A friendly networking space to make new connections, spark collaborations, and celebrate our shared journey

Whether you’ve been part of the programme from the start or you’re just joining the community, this event is designed to remind us of one thing: when people support each other, powerful things happen.

Expect a feel-good evening filled with conversations, laughter, and plenty of inspiration as we come together to close the programme and look ahead to what’s possible for our high streets.

There is free parking after 3pm at Station Car Park, Holmeside, SR1 3JE.
If you're coming alone, this is a great option, our event hosts will also be parked there and are more than happy to walk back with you after the event. Community and safety go hand-in-hand, so you won’t be heading back by yourself.
