Poverty Simulation

The Poverty Simulation is a three-hour event that sensitizes participants to the reality and challenges of people living in poverty. Participants work together as members in low-income families to determine how to survive with little to no money, few resources, emergencies, health issues and more. Volunteers with lived experience play the roles of service providers and other community resources (e.g., bank, employer, and child care). This experience will help those in public health understand the challenges of those served who may be experiencing poverty.

Simulation from 1:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

Break from 2:30 p.m. – 2:45 p.m.

Debriefing from 2:45 p.m. – 4:00 p.m
