About this Event
The transition from the Neolithic to the Bronze Age in Britain is marked by the introduction of a number of new technologies, practices and artefacts. Many of these changes seem to be accompanied by a group of people who have been identified by their association with a new type of pottery known as a "Beaker", which has given these people their name - Beaker People, or Beaker Folk. What, then, is it that is so important about this type of pottery then? In this talk I will look at the evidence for the uses for, and interpretations of, Beaker pottery in this country. This talk will interest anyone thinking of taking Jonathan’s coming course: “Identifying the Archaeology of Prehistoric Britain” (beginning Wednesday 12th February).
