De Mechelse sludge/postmetalband Pothamus werd in 2013 opgericht door Michael Lombarts, Mattias M. Van Hulle en Sam Coussens. Wat hun vooral kenmerkt, is hun atmosferische mix van repetitieve riffs, zwevende drone en tribale percussie. De muziek verkent diepere betekenissen, geïnspireerd door oosterse filosofie en westerse esoterie, en creëert een betoverende ervaring die verder gaat dan het alledaagse. Hun debuutalbum Raya (2020) maakte meteen indruk op zowel critici als fans en leidde tot optredens op grote Belgische én internationale podia. Met hun tweede album Abur, dat in 2025 verschijnt, zetten ze hun spirituele muzikale reis voort.
