About this Event
The University Graduate School supports postgraduates at the University of Birmingham. We offer a variety of academic, social and wellbeing activities throughout the year. You can find out more about our events across the academic year here.
Join the University Graduate School to celebrate Birmingham Pride, the UK's largest two-day Pride festival! The University Graduate School and UGS Scholars are warmly inviting LGBTQ+ postgraduates and allies (a supporter of LGBTQ+ equality) to march with us in the Birmingham Pride Parade on Saturday 25th May.
Meet us at The Exchange building in the city centre between 10:30-11.15am, and we'll march in the Parade from there. Information on travelling to The Exchange by car or public transport is available here. We will be holding a sign to make it really clear who is there to meet you! At The Exchange there will be a check-in space, changing facilities, quiet space and other facilities. Bottled water will also be provided. Birmingham Pride has a thorough commitment to accessibility, which can be found in its accessibility policy here.
LGBTQ+ identifying postgraduates are welcome to join us, as well as LGBTQ+ allies. The Pride Parade is free to attend and will be a relaxed, informal opportunity to meet new people and celebrate an important cause. We'll also have plenty of freebies and decoration to get into the Pride spirit!

About Pride
Birmingham Pride Parade is one of the most important events of the Pride weekend, enjoyed by tens of thousands of participants, walking, marching or aboard creatively decorated floats. The Pride Parade is a march for equality and justice, showing support for LGBTQ+ communities and their fight for equality. The Pride Parade celebrates the contributions of LGBTQ+ people to our city: Birmingham's past, present and future.
The University of Birmingham takes part in the Birmingham Pride Parade every year, with the University Graduate School representing our postgraduate community.

This event is open only to University of Birmingham postgraduates (PGR and PGT).
PGR programmes include: MPhil, MMus, MRes, MA by Research, MSc by Research, MLitt, PhD, PhD with integrated study, EngD, DDS, MD, Higher doctorates and Professional doctorates.
PGT programmes include: MA, MSc, MBA, MEd, LLM, MPH, Maths SKE, MPA, PG Affiliate, PG Certificate, PG Dip Ed, PG Diploma, and PGCE.
Registration will close 15 mins before the event start time or when tickets are sold out.
