Positive Handling Restraint

This course will give the participants guidance on the use of reasonable force in considering the restraint of a child at your school using physical interventions according to a positive handling plan. The outcomes will provide the learners with the confidence to know the use of positive handling without an excessive risk of negative repercussions.

Course Outcomes:

1) All staff to be confident in safely handling children

2) All staff to be confident in supporting their colleagues in difficult situations with pupil behaviour

3) How to apply the appropriate and effective physical skills competently for the purpose of controlling and restraining violent children.

4) School leaders to be confident and informed that their teachers and other staff can provide a thoroughly safe environment for children and adults
