This four session, beginner-friendly class will introduce you to the fundamentals of portrait drawing. You will learn the basics of human head anatomy, sighting and measuring techniques, and how to shade and add value, culminating in two finished portrait drawings. Attendees can expect to complete a self portrait from a mirror, as well as draw from a live model in the studio, and leave the class prepared with the skills necessary to continue their own portrait drawing practice. No prior drawing experience is required, but this class can also be beneficial to artists who are looking to improve their portraiture skills and gain experience drawing from life.
Price
This class is operating on a sliding scale. You may purchase the class at a rate you feel financially comfortable with, up to the maximum class cost of $150. All students will receive the same instruction regardless of payment.

Materials Required
Materials are included.
Students are also welcome to bring their own. A full materials list is available below.
Participants can work in either graphite or charcoal, depending on preference.
Graphite option:
Set of graphite pencils (at least H–4B)
Kneaded eraser
Handheld pencil sharpener
Charcoal option:
Vine charcoal
Compressed charcoal and/or charcoal pencils
Optional: artist’s chamois for blending
