About this Event
Live in West Oakland? Want to grow as a leader for environmental justice and climate justice? Check out our Port 101 series! We’re zeroing in on West Oakland’s most notorious neighbor–the Port of Oakland–and sharing skills around advocacy, air quality data, environmental health, and decarbonization.
The Port of Oakland is West Oakland’s top source of air pollution. In this session, we’re exploring different strategies to curb their impact.
- The Port is bound to specific clean air commitments through the West Oakland Community Action Plan. Learn what they’ve accomplished over six years of the plan, and what remains to be done.
- Explore decarbonization at the Port through zero-emission alternatives to diesel like hydrogen and battery electric.
- We’ll identify levers of power at the Port: key decisionmakers, community partnerships, and more.
This workshop is funded by Clean Ports, a $322 million investment in zero-emission technology by the Port of Oakland. WOEIP, the West Oakland Cultural Action Network, Black Cultural Zone, and Rose Foundation for Community and Environment are working with the Port to monitor the project and keep the community informed.
