Population Collapse: Our Next Apocalypse?
In the late 60s and early 70s, the popular press was filled with apocalyptic predictions of society's demise due to uncontrolled human population growth. Now we are hearing the opposite: population collapse will be the end of society. In this two-lecture series, we explore what happened that led to the shift from gross overpopulation to terminal underpopulation. Part 1 focuses on why the “population bomb” never went off. Part 2 will discuss the societal implications of population decline.
