Weather and cloud cover permitting, this pop-up field trip is a redo from the February event to photograph the moon set beside the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse. That trip was unsuccessful because of cloud cover obstructing the moon. The alignment of the moon behind the lighthouse is at 8:20 am, Tuesday, August 12. The composition will last from about 8:00 to 8:40. The moon will be a Waning Gibbous with 90% of the moon revealed. We'll meet on Lighthouse Drive about 100 yards west of A1A near a small parking area. The drive is about 1-1/2 hours from downtown Orlando. Please plan on arriving at about 7:45 am to get setup and take some shots. A tall tripod will help to raise cameras for better views above the vegetation. The alignment happens at most twice a year. The next good alignments will be at 8:40 am, 8/2/26 and 6:38 am, 8/29/26 (full moon and near the end of Blue Hour).
