Heat race starting lineups will be determined by random draw. Heat race finishing positions will set the starting lineups for the qualifying features.
The top three or four drivers from each qualifying feature will advance to the A Main, depending on the number of participants. A Last Chance Qualifier may also be held to give additional drivers an opportunity to advance.
Karts will be drawn at random before every race. All races are position-based.
Race Format
Heat Races- 15 laps or 10 minutes
Qualifying Features- 20 laps or 15 minutes
Last Chance Qualifier (if needed)- 15 laps or 10 minutes
A Main Feature-35 laps or 25 minutes
The format may be adjusted based on the number of participants.
Driver Weight Requirements
All drivers must add weight as needed to reach 185 pounds, with a maximum of 50 pounds of added weight.
LVGP has a limited supply of weights available on a first-come, first-served basis. LVGP is not responsible for providing weight for every driver. Drivers are responsible for ensuring they meet the weight requirement.
Race Starts & Restarts
Each race will begin with one full lap under caution, with drivers running single file. No passing is permitted during the caution lap. Competitive racing begins when the green flag is displayed.
Following an incident and reordering of the field, drivers will complete one full lap under caution before a green-flag restart.
Passing & Right-of-Way
Clean, respectful driving is required at all times. Passes must be completed with little to no contact.
The inside kart establishes position when its front bumper is alongside the outside kart at least as far as the steering wheel.
Once this overlap is established, the outside driver must yield the position.
If the inside driver has not established proper overlap and contact occurs, responsibility will be assigned to the inside driver.
Cautions & Incident Procedures
A yellow flag will be displayed for incidents such as a kart spinning and becoming stuck against a wall, or multiple karts becoming tangled and stopped on the racing surface.
Under yellow flag conditions, all drivers must:
Slow down immediately.
Refrain from passing.
Maintain their relative positions.
Once the field is under control, race officials will realign the running order and assess any penalties.
Incident & Penalty Application
For example, if a second-place driver attempts to pass the leader without establishing proper overlap and causes the leader to spin:
The second-place driver will be considered responsible for the incident.
The spun kart will be moved to the end of the lineup.
The responsible driver will be placed behind the spun kart.
Any additional karts that stopped because of the incident will be placed between the spun kart and the responsible driver.
Any kart that stops because of an incident is considered part of that incident.
Drivers involved in repeated incidents may be removed from the race at the race director’s discretion.
Competition Flags
Green: Racing begins or resumes.
Yellow: Slow down immediately. No passing.
Red: Stop immediately.
Blue: Move over for faster traffic. Used for lapped traffic only.
White: Final lap.
Checkered: Race is complete.
Karts & Equipment Policy
All league karts are driven, inspected, and tested before league competition. Karts are selected through a weekly indexing process based on lap times to promote competitive balance across all groups.
Our staff dedicates significant time and attention to preparing and maintaining the karts. However, racing karts are mechanical machines, and unforeseen issues may occasionally occur.
Any kart concern experienced during or after a race must be reported to league staff immediately following the session. Staff will inspect the kart and address verified issues according to league procedures.
All kart evaluations and determinations are made at league management’s discretion, with safety and fairness as the top priorities.
