There’s so much more to Cardiff than the city centre. Not least the city within a city which is Llandaff. This is the seat of the great Cathedral on the Taff, where according to legend, King Arthur was crowned King of the Britons by St Dyfrig in the 6th Century. We also experience more recent kingly history as we walk along the Glamorgan Canal which boomed at a time when coal was king. That will lead us to the grounds and gardens of Bute Park behind the medieval Cardiff Castle. Where ‘would be king’ Robert Courthose (eldest son of William the Conqueror) was imprisoned by his cousin Henry I and where he ended his days. Sometimes, being king isn’t everything its cracked up to be!
Adult tickets £10 but children 16 and under go free so a great way of introducing them to our fascinating local history.
