Ponpon Chen, a 22-year-old singer-songwriter from Taipei, Taiwan, is making waves with her unique fusion of jazz guitar, scat singing, and cultural storytelling. Growing up in a city rich with musical tradition, Ponpon was captivated by classic and jazz tunes early on, her first instrument being the piano. By 12, she was already competing in music contests, and her dedication only deepened as she took to professional singing, with over eight years of experience under her belt.

In 2022, Ponpon took a bold step toward her dreams, moving to the U.S. to pursue music full-time. The journey began with a pivotal moment during the pandemic, when she was inspired by a video of jazz legend George Benson—a revelation that led her to take up jazz guitar and ultimately enroll at the Musicians Institute in Los Angeles. Here, Ponpon found her first jazz guitar mentor and immersed herself in jazz history, solidifying her passion for blending guitar with her expressive vocals.

Ponpon’s style honors the artistry of her inspirations like George Benson and Chet Baker, while infusing her own cultural roots, bringing a fresh perspective to jazz. Having organized concerts and performed across Taipei and China, she continues to innovate and explore, driven by the belief of her mentors, friends, and fans who fuel her ambition. Today, Ponpon stands as a rising star, passionate about bridging cultural and musical worlds and inspiring others through her journey.
