Pomona Urban Farms Bike Tour

Come join us for a relaxing ride through Pomona exploring the city's vibrant and community-oriented urban farms. We will be exploring three farms that are part of the Pomona Crece Comunidad urban farming coalition. This event is FREE, but please consider making a donation if you are able to support our coalition and cover the cost of the provided lunch.

We will start the tour and The Growing Roots Garden, a production-oriented community garden that grows food to distribute freely to the community. Growing Roots is located at Emerson Middle School, and contributes to the food security of families at this school.

Next, we will head to Sarvodaya Farms & Nursery, the longest running urban farm in Pomona, where we will explore their vast edible gardens, CA native gardens, pond, fruit trees and extensive nursery of rare fruiting & edible plants.

Lastly, we will pedal over to Gente Community Garden, which focuses on creating commuity space, organizing against injustice and growing food for the residents of South Pomona.

The bike ride between each garden is relatively short, about 15 minutes, and almost a straight ride. We will be riding in a group for safety, with guidance from Pedal Pomona, a Pomona-based bicycle collective, and All Wheels Pomona, a Pomona based inclusive wheeling collective.

Tea will be served at each garden, and lunch will be served at Gente Community Garden.
