Pollinator Census Count at the Marathon Garden Club

Learn to identify major pollinators, get tips on planting a pollinator garden, and contribute as a citizen scientist to a regional study!
About this Event

This free workshop includes a presentation about pollinators and pollinator gardens, and time in the garden to conduct your own pollinator count. Bring a thermos with a cold drink since we will spend a little time outdoors in the garden!

Highlights:

• Participants will learn to identify the major pollinator groups.
• Participants will conduct a pollinator count in the lovely garden at the Marathon Garden Club. UF/IFAS Master Gardener Volunteers will be available to answer questions.
• Participants will contribute to citizen science as they submit their findings to the Great Southeast Pollinator Census!

Agenda:

8:30 - 9 am: Arrive and settle in

9 am: Learn about the Pollinator Census Project, how to contribute, and how to identify major pollinators

9:45 am: Conduct your own census count in the gardens of the Marathon Garden Club!

10:30 am: (Optional activity) Pollinator Gardening 101 Presentation: learn pollinator gardening essentials you can implement at home!

11:15 am: (Optional activity) Second pollinator census count at the adjacent UF/IFAS demonstration pollinator garden
