Polish Nature Mindfully: Autumn Hike with Nature Observation around Bog Reserve
This coming Sunday, I would like to invite you for an unforgettable autumn hike in the beautiful Kurze Grzędy Nature Reserve on the edge of Kaszubski Landscape Park. The 11 km route will take us around peatlands in a mixed forest where we can enjoy the last glimpse of autumn colours weaved around the green of coniferous trees. Your senses will relax completly in the warm autumn tones and in the silence of Kashubian forest while your body will get a gentle exercise and your lungs a lot of oxygen. I will help you focus your attention on small details in the forest that will help you recognize what animals walked the paths before us. We will listen to birdsongs (yes, even in autumn!).
Our route will take us on forest roads around the protected bogs but also on smaller paths on the side of wetlands, lakes and ponds. We will have a little break on a viewpoint placed on the platform built on a peatland lake.
During the walk you will:
- relax!
- learn about the protected area, its history and purpose
- learn about wetlands and bog (types, flora, protection etc)
- learn about tree species in the area and how to recognise them
- learn how to trace animals and recognize their footprints
- learn what birds sings in Polish forest at this time of the year
- meet other nature lovers :)
--------------------------------------
When? -> November 9th (Sunday), 10:00 AM (the walk take about 3 hours, the route is about 11 km)
Where? -> Lasy Mirachowskie in Kaszuby (the detailed information about the meeting point will be given after signing up)
If you want to join but you're not a driver in Poland and struggle with transport, let me know, I will try to help :)
How to sign up? -> email to [email protected]
How much? -> 59 PLN (detailed info about payment will be given on signing up)
--------------------------------------
What do you need?
- waterproof boots/wellies (Part of the route, we will be walking narrow paths on the edge of wetlands, they tend to get wet with autumn weather, please make sure you either have waterproof hiking boots, wellies or accept having wet feet ;) the wettest part of the route is at the end so in case you get wet, you can keep a change of socks/shoes in the car for the way back)
- clothes suitable for the weather: if it's raining, waterproof jacket is recommended, waterproof trousers may come in handy (but not indispensable :) )
- layers work best for clothing, as it might get hot when we are on the go but a bit colder during breaks
- clothes in natural colours: olive green, black, brown, grey; This way it's always easier to spot some animals :)
- a little snack for the way, as well as water/tea/coffee
- if you like to take photos, bring your camera with you
Don’t hesitate to contact if you need more info

About me: My name is Dorota Boroszko and I am nature lover, nature photographer, traveller, hiking guide and English and Spanish teacher. I’ve been spending most of my free time in nature since I was a child, observing it, learning about and growing in it. It runs in my family, too. Not only is the forest a place for a deep relaxation for me, it is also a place where I am able to reencounter with my real self, my essence and integrity (after a long day with preschoolers). I have been dedicated to my facebook photogarphy page: Wild&Free – Dorota Boroszko Nature Photography for a couple of years.
