The Montgomery County Two-Generation Collaborative invites its members to the Policy Foundations and Mechanics of Influence Professional Development Session. 2Gen partners are invited to attend with two individuals from their organization and one program participant or resident. Equip your organization, align your strategy, and build the relationships that drive policy forward.
The session will cover:
- Policy 101: Distinguishing between “Big P” and “little p" policy
- Lobbying vs. Education for Nonprofits
- Organizational Comfort Levels
- Relationship Building with Public Officials and Timing for Engagement
- Mechanics of Influence
- Strategic Political Capital
Participants will leave with:
- A greater understanding of Policy foundations
- A clear assessment of your organization's comfort level on the advocacy spectrum
- Resources on legal boundaries for nonprofits and where to find information about your elected officials
