Pole, Power, and Pride: Wellness, Advocacy, and Alignment through Dance and Sound
Schedule
Thu Oct 30 2025 at 11:30 am to 12:45 pm
UTC-04:00Location
The Desmond Hotel Albany | Colonie, NY
This interactive panel and movement-based session centers the power of sensual dance as a culturally affirming wellness and alignment practice that especially uplifts LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC communities. Panelists—who are artists, instructors, and advocates—will share their lived experiences using dance practices as a tool for sustainability, mental and physical healing, confidence-building, and harm reduction.
A key focus of the panel is the role of professional dancers (pole, burlesque, and movement to sound) in reducing stigma around sex work, creating inclusive somatic spaces, and promoting health equity through trauma-informed embodiment practices. Following the panel discussion, participants will be guided through a gentle, beginner-friendly mini-workshop, offering a direct experience of the techniques discussed.
