Each month, enjoy book discussions, films, crafts, and special events inspired by her most captivating stories. Discover the intrigue, suspense, and brilliance that have thrilled readers for generations!
Did you know that Agatha Christie—world-renowned for her detective novels—was also trained as an apothecary during World War I? Her background gave her expert knowledge of poisons, which appear in many of her mysteries. Join us for an evening exploring the deadly plants that shaped Christie’s stories. We’ll take a closer look at poisonous plants such as foxglove, hemlock, and belladonna—how to identify them, their historical uses, and the dangerous effects they can have on the human body. Along the way, we’ll uncover which Christie novels feature these plants, and how she wove botanical knowledge into her crimes. Don’t forget your Agatha Christie passport—participants can collect stickers toward a mystery prize!
