Anjum Choudhary, an internationally recognized author born and raised in Dubai, is celebrated for her raw and untouched writing style. Her first book, Souled Out, achieved global acclaim and remains a cult favorite. Now, with The Silent Hummingbird, she continues to explore the depths of the human soul, sharing her unique voice shaped by her Indian roots and performances across Europe, the Middle East, and now the United States.

Carlota Roby, a human rights attorney with a Harvard Law degree, draws on her Venezuelan heritage and personal experiences. She is co-founder of the Vocales Verticales project, and author of the poetry collections, Las Manos de los Muertos and Suburban Tales. She believes in the transformative power of poetry. In Lilith, published in both English and Spanish, by the Chilean small press Tintapujo, Carlota invites readers to experience a transformative exploration of desire and feminine empowerment through vivid imagery and intimate narratives.

Both poets will be in conversation with Joy Alford (Sistah Joy) who was appointed the first Poet Laureate of Prince George's County, Maryland, on September 18, 2018, after previously serving as the Poet Laureate of Ebenezer AME Church since April 15, 2016. With over 25 years of experience in activist poetry, Joy received the Poet Laureate Special Award from the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities in 2002.
