Join us for a poetry reading with Whitney Waters and Alyse Bensel at City Lights on Friday, April 24th at 6:00pm. Whitney Waters is a poet and educator living in Asheville, NC. She teaches writing at Western Carolina University and teaches workshops through the Great Smokies Writing Program. Her poems have been published in Penumbra, The Shore, About Place Journal, Twelve Mile Review,and elsewhere. She holds an MFA from the MFA Program for Writers at Warren Wilson College. Alyse Bensel is an educator, writer, and editor. She is the author of the poetry collections Spoil (Stephen F. Austin State University Press, 2024) and Rare Wondrous Things: A Poetic Biography of Maria Sibylla Merian (Green Writers Press, 2020).She currently serves as Poetry Editor for Cherry Tree and as the Reviews Editor for the Journal of Creative Writing Studies (JCWS), an open access, peer reviewed journal on the scholarship of creative writing. Alyse is an associate professor of English at Brevard College, where she directs the Looking Glass Rock Writers' Conference.
