Join us for the final poetry slam of the 25/26 Urban Legends season, featuring internationally acclaimed Guatemalan spoken word artist and slam poetry champ, SPIN El Poeta.

Sign up for the slam or open mic at the door. Poets who sign up to perform are not required to buy a ticket.

SPIN El Poeta is an award winning Guatemalan spoken word artist and slam poetry champ, including 2025 OG 500 and 2024 City Folk Slam. He is a long time youth advocate, arts educator, former refugee, proprietor of the One Mic Educators arts enterprise and cofounder of the One Mic Educators collective. Through his involvement in the collective, SPIN has donated thousands of crowdsourced dollars to grassroots causes. He has also paid out thousands of dollars to racialized artists across Turtle Island through the LA3 Raza Open Mic series. SPIN was honoured with the 2021 Arts for Human Rights award in the Established Artist category by the JAYU Film Festival.
