Come Celebrate National Poetry Month!Join us for an afternoon featuring local poets Grace Curtis and Betsy Hughes, who will be reading from their new publications Even-Turn (Curtis) and Wild Trumpeters (Hughes). Both works will be available for purchase at the event. In order to highlight comparisons between their poems, Curtis and Hughes will engage in conversation about aspects of their poetry, alternating between the two poets.
Grace Curtis: The Surly Bonds of Earth by Grace Curtis was winner of the 2010 Letter Sauvage chapbook contest. Other publications include The Shape of a Box (Dos Madres Press, 2014) and Everything Gets Old (2019).
Betsy Hughes: Breaking Weather by Betsy Hughes was winner of the 2013 Stevens Manuscript Competition sponsored by the National Federation of State Poetry Societies. Other publications include Bird Notes (Finishing Line press, 2017), Forest Bathing (Antrim House Books, 2019), and the Sith Sense of Loss (2021).
Both Curtis and Hughes have published in a variety of literary journals and have been nominated for the Pushcart Prize in Poetry.
