About this Event

Dr. Chad Faries is an accomplished Professor of English, author, and poet at Savannah State University. He is the author of four books—including the memoir Drive Me Out of My Mind, the poetry collections The Border Will Be Soon, The Book of Knowledge, and Amasa Speaker Factory—and his poetry, essays, and creative nonfiction have appeared in numerous literary journals and anthologies. In addition to his literary achievements, Dr. Faries serves as senior editor and faculty advisor for Estuary, Savannah State University’s award-winning undergraduate literary magazine, which earned the Association of Writers & Writing Programs (AWP) Prize as the nation’s best undergraduate literary magazine.


Nicholas Goodly, PhD. is the author of Star Power (Scribner Press, 2026) and Black Swim (Copper Canyon, 2022). Nicholas is a team member of the performing arts platform Fly on a Wall and writing editor of WUSSY Magazine. Goodly is a finalist for the 2020 Jake Adam York Prize, the runner-up for the 2019 Cave Canem Poetry Prize and recipient of the 2017 Poetry Society of America Chapbook Fellowship. Goodly has appeared in Poetry Magazine, The New Yorker, Boston Review, BOMB, The Poetry Project, Lambda Literary, Narrative Magazine, and elsewhere.
