We're back at Dubrek on Wednesday 20th May from 7-9pmThe event will be Poetry Karaoke warm up followed by writing exercises on the theme of walking / hiking / the great outdoors as May is National Walking month.
Please message Sonia or Camille or on the event wall if you'd like a slot.
There are a limited number of slots available on a first-come-first-served basis and I'll save one slot for each section for a name to be pulled out of a hat (perhaps not literally) on the night.
Or just come and listen!
What’s Poetry Karaoke?
It’s where we share poems by other poets we love. A chance to celebrate their work, discover voices we might not otherwise hear, and chat about what resonates. This is a rare opportunity to read poems other than your own that you have enjoyed and would like to share (2 minutes or so in length please).
If you are writing your own stuff but aren't confident sharing it yet, reading someone else's work might be an opportunity to practice the process of getting up and reading aloud to a small audience.
Or you might just enjoy the opportunity to read wonderful poetry that isn't yours out loud to an audience - we do!
We'll bring some writing exercises on the theme, so make sure to bring something to write with, whether that's a pen and paper or a laptop / phone. All prompts are optional.
For those that can afford it, we kindly ask for a suggested donation of £2 to help create poetry opportunities for the local community. Donations can be made here: https://ko-fi.com/poetrypraisesandwichderby
The audience is very important to this event, so please come and support, even if you aren’t reading.
