The course is aimed at beginners and those who have done some poetry writing but are not consistently published and will focus on developing learners’ skills so that they become more confident and are able take their poetry writing to the next level.

The course will be workshop style, lively and supportive with lots of opportunity for discussion and feedback on learners’ work. Each week we will also look at a poem by a contemporary published poet as well as setting 'prompts' for the following week

By the end of the course, you will:

  • Have experimented with using existing poems, images and other prompts to make a start on your poems
  • Be able to recognize a number of poetic forms
  • Will be able to give and receive developmental feedback to help others and to use it in your work
  • Discover the work of published poets, their lives and contexts
