Please join Entre Rios Books for an afternoon of new and unpublished work by ERB author Melinda Mueller and publisher Knox Gardner. House readings are an excellent way for writers to share new ideas with an audience, and Melinda and I are excited to share this latest work, which may appear in future books— a first listen! I'll also be baking up some cakes.We may have a brief talkback after the reading.
This is a casual indoor event: doors open at 3:00 p.m., and the reading will begin around 4:00 p.m. There will be snacks and mingling with poets and those who like them.
We will have a donation jar split with our readers for their time. A suggested donation of $10 is suggested.
Masks are welcome but not required at this time. However, if there is a new winter COVID outbreak, we will have the windows ajar and may provide or require masks. We'll have to see! Let's all stay healthy!
+++
Melinda Mueller trained as a biologist and has recently retired from the science faculty at the Seattle Academy of Arts & Sciences.
We have published two books with her, "Mary’s Dust" with music by Lori Goldston, which was a finalist for the Washington State Book Award in 2018, and "The After", with art by Karinna Gomez and music by Syrinx Effect.
Her book, "What the Ice Gets: Shackleton’s Antarctic Expedition, 1914-1916" (Van West & Company) received a 2001 Washington State Book Award and the American Library Notable Books Award for Poetry in 2002. Her other books of poetry are "Private Gallery" (Seal Press, 1976), "Asleep in Another Country"(Jawbone Press, 1979), and "Apocrypha" (Grey Spider Press, 1988). Melinda was a coauthor of an early list of rare, threatened, and endangered plant species in Washington State.
We hope Melinda will share work from her manuscript "Exuviae," among other new things!
AND
Knox Gardner, the publisher of Entre Rios Books and host in his home with his husband, Victor Chudnovsky. His debut collection, "Woodland," was a finalist for the CLMP Firecracker award in 2020. He also started ERB by collaborating with artist Nia Michaels on the chapbook "Twelve Saints." If all goes well, he will finally share work that will go into a book about poet John Clare.
