Poetry Encounters: Claudia Masin

The Instituto Cervantes in Manchester invites you to the second session of its “Poetry Encounters” programme, this time featuring a discussion between Argentinian poet Claudia Masin and author and academic Charlotte Shevchenko Knight.
Poetry Encounters was created with the aim of promoting the translation of poetry from Spanish into English through a collaborative project involving translation students from the University of Liverpool.
The event will include readings of Claudia’s poems as she has written them in Spanish, as well as their English translations, followed by an exploration not only into the creative substance of the poem (motifs, imagery, structure…), but also the process of translating it from one language to another. The discussion will also discuss Claudia’s literary trajectory as a poet and the context in which her writing places itself. The dialogue between both Claudia and Charlotte will be open to audience questions, offering a unique opportunity to engage directly with their perspectives on poetry, translation, and contemporary literature.
The event will be held in English and is free to attend until full capacity is reached.
El Instituto Cervantes de Mánchester te invita a la segunda sesión de su programa «Encuentros poéticos», que en esta ocasión consistirá en un diálogo entre la poetisa argentina Claudia Masin y la autora y académica Charlotte Shevchenko Knight.
«Encuentros poéticos» surge con el objetivo de fomentar la traducción de poesía del español al inglés, a través de un proyecto colaborativo en el que participan estudiantes de traducción de la Universidad de Liverpool.
El evento incluirá una lectura de los poemas de Claudia en su versión original en español, así como de sus traducciones al inglés. A continuación, se profundizará no solo en la sustancia creativa de la obra (motivos, imágenes, estructura…), sino también en el proceso de traducirla de un idioma a otro. Asimismo, se abordará la trayectoria literaria de Claudia como poetisa y el contexto en el que se enmarca su obra. El diálogo entre Claudia y Charlotte estará abierto a las preguntas del público, ofreciendo una oportunidad única para conocer distintas perspectivas sobre la poesía, la traducción y la literatura contemporánea.
El evento se desarrollará en inglés, y el acceso será libre hasta completar el aforo.
