Time: To be scheduled individually
Cost: $35

Register here.

During Tulsa LitFest 2026 (Thursday, April 23rd - Sunday, April 26th) poet and educator Jasminé Elizabeth Smith will offer personal, one-on-one consultations with poets and writers interested in receiving professional feedback. Jasminé is the author of the collection South Flight and she recently received an NEA Grant.
Once you have signed up for a consultation, you will receive a request for your materials from the Center for Poets and Writers. Consultation meeting times/locations will be arranged via email as well.
Author Consultation Statement:

I believe in providing in depth and generative feedback to my clients. In addition to line edits, we will interrogate how a concise group of poems works together to build a meaningful thematic and narrative arc while also identifying a poet’s strengths and weaknesses. I am a firm believer that poetry is a skill that continually must be refined, so our session will include a handful of personalized generative prompts to hone your strengths, enhance areas of weakness, and make meaningful creative pivots. In addition to poetry consolations, I am able to provide feedback on grant proposals, publication applications, fellowship applications, personal statements for writing related residencies and degree programs, artist CVs, and press materials. Because of time constraints, consultations will be limited to four poems or a maximum of 6 pages. (For non-poetry material limits, please contact the CPW at [email protected].)

She is a Cave Canem and Black Earth Institute fellow and a recipient of the 2025 National Endowment of the Arts in Poetry. Her work has twice been nominated for a Pushcart Prize and has been featured in publications such as Poetry, World Literature Today, and This is the Honey: A Contemporary Poetry Anthology of Black Poetry, among others. Her debut collection, South Flight (University of Georgia Press, 2020), was the winner of the Georgia Poetry Prize.
