Welcome to our summer poetry reading! There is so much I could say about these two incredible poets that are gracing the mic for us but it would fall short. The words of these poet are flares in the night, and these are certainly dark times. As always open mic after the featured poets, so bring something to share! Doors open at 530, poetry at 6!
Ryan Mergen aka RyMer is evolving...
a World Traveler
spinning frenetically
between Poet
and Programmer
Evolving into
AIs latest niche
as it simultaneously
kills and unlocks him
RyMer is becoming
a code poet.
Christine Rockey is the author of A Human Auction and the forthcoming collection An Anthem for Her Face. A founding member of the Almost Uptown Poetry Cartel, she has been writing, reading, and performing poetry for more than twenty years.
Her poems inhabit the places where memory, myth, desire, spirituality, and the ordinary life of women meet. Drawn to the symbolic more than the confessional, she writes toward transformation rather than certainty, trusting image, metaphor, and the emotional intelligence of the poem to discover what cannot be argued into existence. After nearly a decade away from publishing, An Anthem for Her Face marks her return with work that is both deeply personal and unapologetically expansive.
She lives in Pennsylvania, where she continues to write, work, and occasionally find herself behind a microphone.
